An employer identification number (EIN) is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS used to identify the tax accounts of employers and other. An EIN is also known as a federal tax ID

It is required to open a business banking account, for taxpayers who have employees, for trusts and estates, and more.

For most* orders received before 7 P.M. PST weekdays we are able to deliver your EIN within the same day (before IRS office closes. IRS office is open Monday through Friday only). For orders received after IRS closing hours and on weekends, we will process your application the morning of the next business day.

As EINs function as unique identifiers for companies similar to your Social Security number, you’ll need one to establish a company credit history that’s separate from your own. This protects your own credit if your business goes into debt. This protection works both ways.

An employer identification number (EIN) is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS. It is used to identify the tax accounts of employers and certain others who have no employees. The IRS uses the number to identify taxpayers who are required to file various business tax returns. An EIN is also known as a federal tax ID

If you’re an independent contractor with several clients, you may feel a little uneasy about handing your Social Security number out to every company that must submit a Form 1099 before it pays you. An EIN may be used in lieu of a Social Security number, protecting your personal identity — as well as bank accounts, credit history and taxes — from falling into criminals’ hands. Even if you trust your clients completely, their files may be compromised or stolen, exposing your personal information to the underworld.

You need to get a EIN/ Tax ID Number if you:

• Started a new business
• Hired or will hire employees, including household employees
• Need to open a business bank account or want to start a business line of credit
• Changed the legal character or ownership of your organization (i.e. from sole proprietor to corporation)
• Formed or created a trust, pension plan, corporation, partnership, LLC
• Represent an estate that operates a business after the owner’s death.

To begin the online application, click “Get Started Now“. We prepare the paperwork and file for you, and email you the official EIN document received back from the IRS. It’s that simple!

This EIN is your permanent number and can be used immediately for most of your business needs, including:

-Opening a bank account
-Applying for business licenses
-Build Business credit separate from personal
-Filing a tax return by mail

If you already have an EIN, and the organization or ownership of your business changes, you may need to apply for a new number.

Some of the circumstances under which a new number is required are as follows:

An existing business is purchased or inherited by an individual who will operate it as a sole proprietorship;
A sole proprietorship changes to a corporation or a partnership;
A partnership changes to a corporation or a sole proprietorship;
A corporation changes to a partnership or a sole proprietorship; or
An individual owner dies, and the estate takes over the business.

In cases where you are a sole proprietor starting a new business or changing your business, you still need to file the EIN application (SS4) so the IRS has your new business information. However, they will not assign a NEW EIN, because as a person you are only one entity. They will update your EIN on file with your new business information and you will continue to use the same EIN attached to your individual name.

When you start a new business as a new SEPARATE entity, the same application is filed, however the IRS will issue a NEW EIN.

Yes, an employer identification number, or EIN, is also known as a taxpayer identification number, or TIN.

If you DO NOT have an SSN there is an additional $100 fee to apply. The wait time is a minimum of 4 business days for applicants without an SSN. Just select “The Responsible Party does not have a SSN to apply with” when you reach that question on page 4 of our online application here.

EZ Incorporate is one of the only companies that are able to properly apply and get an EIN/Federal Tax ID for applicants without an SSN.

All customers whose principal business, office or agency, or legal residence (in the case of an individual) is located in the United States or in one of the U.S. Territories can apply for an EIN online.

The principal officer, general partner, grantor, owner, trustor etc. must have a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (Social Security Number, Employer Identification Number, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) in order to use the online application.

If you were incorporated outside of the United States or the U.S. territories, you cannot apply for an EIN online.

Your EIN may be delayed to a 5-7 business day wait if:

-An ITIN is submitted instead of an SSN.
-The name of the entity is common enough that there is another entity with the same name, or a very similar name.
-The IRS suspects for any reason that the entity already has an EIN.
-The Responsible Party for the entity is a parent company whose EIN was originally filed online.
-The Responsible Party doesn’t have an SSN to apply with ($100 extra fee applies)

Yes. The information you submit is secured using SSL/TLS encryption technology. The “s” in the “https://” at the start of the address of pages that collect or display your information is what identifies this security. When you start the application process you will see the https:// in the URL.

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service. IRS issues ITINs to individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but who do not have, and are not eligible to obtain a Social Security Number (SSN) from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

ITINs are for federal tax reporting only, and are not intended to serve any other purpose. IRS issues ITINs to help individuals comply with the U.S. tax laws, and to provide a means to efficiently process and account for tax returns and payments for those not eligible for Social Security Numbers (SSNs).

If you have an SSN or qualify to have an SSN, the ITIN is not for you.

We can now obtain EIN’s for those without a SSN for a total fee of $189 and a 4 business day delivery time. For most purposes there is now no need to apply for an ITIN which takes much longer and is a much more complicated process. EZ Incorporate is one of the only companies that are able to properly apply and get an EIN/Federal Tax ID for applicants without an SSN.  Just click “Get Started Now” and indicate that the responsible party does not have an SSN on page 4 of the online form.

An ITIN and EIN are both 9 digit federal tax IDs. For most purposes, you only need one or the other. For example, both can be used to open a bank account or report taxes, etc.

Please be advised that for some clients, you can complete an SS4 form and obtain your tax id number / EIN directly from the IRS. The IRS will usually fax back SS4’s in 4-7 business days. However, each individual’s situation is unique and you may or may not need to send in additional documents, verify your identity on the phone with the IRS (often 1 hour wait time), or need to fax in documents multiple times. We have the goal of assisting you in obtaining a tax id number from the IRS, answering any questions you have and providing consultation throughout the process. We charge a fee to help you with this process, making obtaining a tax id number / EIN fast, easy, and problem-free.

Secondly, the SS4 is a complicated document that may require multiple filings to get it right. Many of our clients who downloaded the form and are not able to complete it accurately, come to us to have us complete it. Also, the IRS is not very clear on what needs to be done with an SS4 is rejected, not to mention the 7-14 day wait to receive a response letter. Our staff is experienced in working with the IRS, especially with the common issues that impede most self-filings.

The IRS’s site also typical responds with many errors which are tough for users to understand. These deal with duplicate SSNs, previously issued EINs, using a business EIN as the responsible party, technical difficulties, mismatched names, and more. Instead of trying to understand these error codes, for which there is no clear guide available from the IRS, our staff will take care of this for you. The IRS’s site is also very generic and redundant on what information is needed to process your order. This is why we offer this valuable service, especially for those without SSNs since it is not possible to get an EIN via the IRS website without one.

As a third-party designee, EZ Incorporate – FWA LLC assists its clients by working directly with the IRS to obtain an EIN (Employer Identification Number) which is also referred to as a Federal Tax ID number.

Most individuals, specifically our clients, prefer the simplicity and ease of hiring a third-party designee as there are several advantages to doing so.  One such advantage is the ease of preparing the required federal form using our website.  Our website provides a simple, easy to access, one page form that you prepare whereas the IRS website can be difficult to navigate and offers no support or help using the IRS website.  Another advantage is the ease in which our clients can reach our Customer Service Department without the hassle of being on hold for an hour or more for each call, with no guarantee that you will speak to the right person (IRS typical wait time is 1 hour+). Our support hours are much longer than the IRS, and we work weekends as well (IRS is only M-F).

Additionally, as we are experienced with the process, we know how to handle any errors that may arise and can easily help our clients to overcome them with no hassle.  Lastly, should our clients misplace their EIN that they obtained through us, they have the advantage of contacting us and we can easily provide it to them again without having to go through a 1 hour call with the IRS that involves numerous identification verification steps.

My business partner and I decided start an LLC with S corporation benefits and did not know the first thing about setting it up. After looking at the paperwork involved we were very unsure about doing it ourselves.

Thankfully we found EZ incorporate early on. They broke down the process into step by step pieces that were easy for us amateurs to understand.
